No Man's Sky Guides Hub
First hours through Cosmos 7.0 — one map for every walkthrough on this wiki.
No Man’s Sky launched on 12 August 2016 as a solo crash-landing on one of 18 quintillion planets. Ten years and forty-plus free updates later, the same save can hold a planetary factory, a walkable Corvette, a directed space station, and a museum of expedition rewards. This hub is the index for that modern game: not a lore dump, and not a speedrun script, but a set of practical walkthroughs that match how Travellers actually search — how do I leave the first planet, how do I fund an S-class scanner, how do I crew a Corvette, how do I start Expedition 23.
Hello Games still sells the game once. There are no microtransactions. Units, Nanites, and Quicksilver are earned in-world. The pages below assume a Normal save unless a section names Survival, Permadeath, Creative, or Abandoned. Online co-op, Cross-Play, and Cross-Save cover PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, Mac, PSVR 1 and 2, PC VR, Game Pass, GOG, and Steam Deck.
Start here if you just bought the game
Open Getting Started before you spend an evening polishing a C-class Rasamama. That page covers mode choice, the scanner, Sodium and Oxygen, Pulse Engine repair, Analysis Visor money, the Space Anomaly, and a first Base Computer. Pair it with Controls so melee-boost, visor scanning, and Quick Menu recharges become muscle memory on keyboard, controller, Switch, or Steam Deck.
When hazard protection stops scaring you, move to Units and Nanites. Scanning flora pays the early bills; S-class scanner modules turn every new biome into a unit printer. Nanites then buy those modules, plus ship and Multi-Tool upgrades. Do not reverse that order.
Ships, bases, and the Voyagers-to-Cosmos jump
Ships and Corvettes explains Explorers, Fighters, Haulers, Shuttles, Exotics, Solars, Living Ships, Sentinel Interceptors, and the modular Corvettes added in Voyagers 6.0. You assemble a Corvette at the station workshop behind the blue teleporters on the left: landing gear, hab, access bay, cockpit, reactor, main engine, and a weapon. Cosmos 7.0 (9 September 2026) then hangs a tractor beam on that hull so you can feed salvage from space hulks into the hold.
Base Building is the planetary counterpart. Claim a Base Computer, drop solar panels and a battery, wire a teleporter, then grow into industrial extractors and a settlement. Only after that loop is comfortable should you spend a weekend on Cosmos orbital bases, asteroid star-bases, or decorating a player-owned space station. The Cosmos 7.0 notes list the space-side toys; the base guide tells you which ones to unlock first.
Seasonal play and other Travellers
Expeditions covers the Anomaly terminus, the New Game expedition tile, reward copy-back, and Expedition 23 Our Journey Continues — a roughly six-week museum of forty updates with Sean Murray commentary and nostalgia ships. Multiplayer is the social layer: Nexus missions, Corvette crew jobs, Cosmos alliances, privacy sliders, and how not to get griefed while you are trying to scan a diplodocus.
Use the other hubs when a guide sends you sideways. The Tier List Hub ranks ships, Multi-Tools, and companions. The Factions Hub breaks down Gek, Korvax, Vy’keen, and Autophage standing. The Updates Hub and patch history keep version numbers honest. Tools holds the portal glyph primer and the resource list. Official and community destinations live on Links.
How to read these pages after a big patch
Cosmos added a star system map, space hulks, outposts, bio-wrecks, asteroid belts, orbital construction anywhere in space, player-owned stations, alliances, and the ability to fly toward a system’s star. None of that replaces the first-hour loop. You still recharge hazard protection with Sodium, life support with Oxygen, and the mining beam with Carbon. You still refine Copper into Chromatic Metal and still should not marry the first crashed Fighter you claim. The new toys sit on top of that foundation.
If you are returning from 2016, skip the guilt. Your old muscle memory for Pulse Jumps still works. What changed is density: the Anomaly is a lobby, expeditions are seasonal campaigns, Corvettes are walkable ships, and space is no longer an empty corridor between planets. Pick the child page that matches the itch — money, hulls, concrete, or friends — and jump in from there.
New saves should treat this hub as a checklist, not a homework packet. Finish Getting Started, learn the visor, fund a scanner, then choose one rabbit hole. Veterans can land on Expeditions or Cosmos orbital construction and ignore the tutorial tone. After the first warp, add space stations, space hulks, and freighters when you are ready to own a hub, strip a wreck, or park a fleet. Either way, the walkthroughs below stay in sync with the same facts: Normal is the recommended first mode, online co-op is the multiplayer model, and the next free update will not charge you for the privilege.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers Travellers search for after Cosmos.
Which guide should a brand-new Traveller open first?
Read Getting Started and Controls together. Repair the Pulse Engine, learn melee-boost, then farm units and nanites before you shop for a pretty ship.
Is No Man's Sky still a solo game after Cosmos?
You can play entirely solo. Online co-op, Nexus missions, Corvette crews, and Cosmos alliances are optional. Details are on the multiplayer page.
Where do Corvettes and orbital bases fit in the learning order?
Build a planetary camp first using the base-building guide, then assemble a Corvette at a station workshop. Cosmos orbital bases and owned stations come after those two loops.
How do expeditions relate to my main save?
Start from the Anomaly terminus or a New Game tile, then copy cosmetic rewards and selected cargo back. Expeditions covers Expedition 23 Our Journey Continues and the transfer steps.
Does this wiki track every Hello Games patch?
Major drops live under Updates, with focused notes on Cosmos, Voyagers, and the patch history. Guides here are rewritten against those notes rather than against launch-day advice.
