Build a walkable corvette, invite a crew, and take the ship-as-home update into Cosmos.

Voyagers Update

Voyagers is update 6.0, shipped August 2025. It is the patch that turned the starship from a cockpit-and-inventory box into a house you fly. Hello Games named the new class Corvette. You assemble one from hulls, wings, landing gear, reactors, windows, weapons, and rooms, then walk the interior with friends while the universe slides past the glass.

Cosmos did not replace this. Cosmos assumes it. The Tractor Beam that eats hulk salvage is a corvette utility part sold at the same workshop Voyagers introduced. If your hangar is still four fighters and a hauler, read this page before you strip a derelict.

Official notes: nomanssky.com/voyagers-update. For current ship rankings after both patches, see the ship tier list.

What a corvette is

A corvette is a large, fully bespoke starship with a furnished interior that can hold a crew. Modules snap: habitation, hull, wing, engine, window, accessway, weapon, reactor, shield, connector, and decorative peripherals. The first time you pick up a corvette module or touch the Corvette Workshop in a space station, a short tutorial starts.

This is not base building with a pulse drive glued on. The hull has stats. Weapons add firepower. Reactors and shields keep you alive in pirate belts. Beds, med-bays, mission radars, and teleporters change how a multiplayer session feels: an away team can port down while the pilot holds orbit.

Sean Murray’s line at launch still holds: the ship is the most important character. When the ship changes, the whole game’s rhythm changes. Pulse is no longer a loading screen you sit through in a chair. You can walk to a window.

Workshop, missions, and crew

The Corvette Workshop lives in space stations. Buy structural parts, apply colour palettes (later patches tightened snapping and whole-ship paint), and park the result in your squadron like any other ship. You still have a normal hangar limit, so a corvette is a commitment, not a fifth collector toy you never fly.

Corvettes ship with a mission board for cooperative, system-wide jobs. That board is why Voyagers is listed next to expeditions in this wiki’s mental model: the ship generates reasons to stay in one system instead of warping every five minutes.

Invite friends on board. They are not camera ghosts in your cockpit. They walk halls, man stations, and can leave through the hatch. Autopilot exists so a pilot can step away from the stick without parking the house in a station wall. Later hotfixes taught the game to cancel that autopilot when you get too close to a large object. Believe those notes.

Spacewalk, then Cosmos expands it

Voyagers let you EVA from a corvette. Park in atmosphere, open the hatch, and skydive toward a ridge (jetpack before the last fifty metres). In space, you could leave the hull to inspect modules or just stare at a planet.

Cosmos 7.0 later added an eject control on the Quick Menu for every starship and deepened six-degrees-of-freedom movement. The fantasy started on corvettes; the anniversary patch gave it to fighters and haulers too. If a guide still says “only corvettes can spacewalk,” it is out of date.

The Tractor Beam is the other bridge between the two updates. Install it as a hull attachment. It sucks in and refines physical salvage and minerals. You launch Coil-grabbed chunks at the beam to store them. Oversized objects get processed so they fit. That is the hulk pipeline: Coil on the wreck, beam on the ship, outpost on the map.

Expedition 19: Corvette

Expedition Nineteen, Corvette, started shortly after 6.0 and ran about six weeks. The pitch: your old ship is gone, Sentinels are closing in, and the only way out is to upgrade a lone corvette. Rewards Hello Games listed included posters, decals, titles, the Vigilant jetpack trail, a plasma starship trail, an exclusive Deadeye cannon module, and the Mecha-Mouse companion.

If you missed the window, watch for a redux. Expedition rewards copy to a main save; the workshop knowledge stays in your hands either way because corvette parts exist in normal mode. Use the expeditions guide for terminus steps and the companions tier list if you are collecting the mouse next to a diplodocus from Expedition 23.

Other 6.0 extras worth remembering

Voyagers was not only hull pieces. Hello Games shipped a Skyborn exosuit set and jetpack, upscalers (DLSS 4 / PSSR / XeSS 2 at the time), better glass and aquarium rendering, full controller rebinding on consoles, and more planets with Ancient Bones and scrap. Those quality-of-life notes still matter on Switch and VR, where a corvette interior is a lot of geometry.

None of that is a reason to skip Getting Started on a new account. You still repair a crashed ship, still farm carbon and ferrite, still buy a better scanner. The corvette is the mid-game house, not the tutorial.

How Voyagers reads in 2026

Play Voyagers as the ship chapter and Cosmos as the system chapter. A maxed fighter is still a joy for atmosphere runs and Sentinel fights. A corvette is what you take to a belt when you want cargo, crew, and a beam. After Cosmos you can own the station those corvettes dock at.

Practical order for a returning save:

  1. Unlock the workshop and assemble a modest hull with a reactor, a shield, and a landing bay you can actually walk.
  2. Install a Tractor Beam before you farm Cosmos hulks.
  3. Add a teleporter if you play with people; add guns if you do not.
  4. Keep one small ship for planetary fiddling. Corvettes are clumsy in caves.

The patch history page places Voyagers after Beacon and before Breach and Remnant. Breach added more modules and wrecked corvettes to strip. Remnant added the Gravitino Coil that Cosmos salvage expects. Stack those three and 7.0 feels inevitable: a custom ship, a gravity gun, then a galaxy that finally has wrecks worth both.

When the interior is done, stop decorating and go fly the new map. A corvette that never leaves the station is just a base with worse lighting. Take it to an ice field, park off a hulk, and let the crew work — that is the Voyagers promise Cosmos finally gave a job. FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers Travellers search for after Cosmos.

When did Voyagers 6.0 come out?

Voyagers shipped in August 2025 as update 6.0. It introduced Corvette-class ships, the station workshop, corvette missions, and Expedition 19. Cosmos 7.0 (September 2026) builds on that hull.

Where do I build a corvette?

Use the Corvette Workshop inside a space station. Collecting a corvette module or using the workshop starts a short assembly tutorial. Full part lists live in the ships and corvettes guide.

Can friends walk around inside my ship?

Yes. Corvettes have real interiors for a multi-crew. Add beds, a mission radar, and a teleporter if you want an away team. Details sit in multiplayer.

Is spacewalk still corvette-only?

No. Voyagers added EVA from corvettes. Cosmos later let every starship eject from the Quick Menu and improved six-degrees-of-freedom movement.

What was Expedition 19?

Expedition 19: Corvette ran about six weeks after Voyagers. Rewards included trails, titles, a Deadeye cannon module, and the Mecha-Mouse companion. See the expeditions guide for redux timing.
